Technical requirements for using the Zamn learning platform

The Zamn platform works on most operating systems, on laptops, mobile phones and tablets.

The platform works directly in the browser, and you do not need to install any apps or tools on your device. All you need is an internet browser.

Computer requirements

  • A computer with a dual-core processor and at least 2 GB of RAM.
  • We recommend an operating system that can run the latest versions of the Chrome or Firefox browser.

Chrome and Firefox are the best browsers and have the best support for WebRTC, the technology used for real-time voice communication.

Other browsers, like Safari and Internet Explorer, do not work as well, but they are generally supported.

Supported mobile devices

The Zamn platform supports Android devices, and it works directly in the browser with no apps or add-ons to install.

You need Android 6 or newer.

All Zamn features work on Android except screen sharing, because the Chrome browser does not support this feature on Android.

The Zamn platform works on iPhones through the Safari browser, with no apps or add-ons to install.

You need iOS 12.2 or newer.

Most Zamn features work on iOS and iPhones except screen sharing, because the Safari browser does not support screen sharing yet.

Internet speed requirements

Requirements for guests (listeners)

We recommend an internet connection with an upload speed of at least 0.5 Mbit/s and a download speed of at least 1 Mbit/s.

These numbers are approximate. They change based on the time of the broadcast, and on whether other apps or programs use the same internet connection at the same time.

To test your internet speed, you can use: https://www.speedtest.net

Requirements for the room owner (presenter)

Use the best speed you can, especially when you share your camera and desktop screen, because this needs double the internet speed on the presenter's side.
